On average homes we paint take 3.5 days. Small, 1 level homes can be quicker and take 2, depending on the condition they’re in. Large multi level homes with lots of trim (such as those in Westport or Brookside) can take 1 to 2 weeks.

As for actually using the sprayer, the main thing to remember is to not overcoat with paint. Two or three quick passes will minimize drippage as opposed to trying to get a full coat on all at once. (Which I learned the hard way. The first room I painted was so drippy droppy, we had to do some extra sanding once it dried. I felt so bad!) Only by actually using the sprayer will you get a method down. By the time I was done with the sprayer, I felt like a pro and actually had fun painting!
Painters recommend using semi-gloss, eggshell, and satin paints for bathrooms due to the durability, moisture resistance, and ease of cleaning.
Furthermore, how can I get a local Chicago painting contractor to actually show up for an estimate?
Be cautious of any painting estimates that offer too good to be true pricing. The company may lack experience or may apply low-quality paint. We Suggest you buy the paint yourself if you are worried about the quality of paint your painter may buy.
Ensuring your home’s exterior looks freshly painted is possible with a bit of maintenance work. Keep the exterior clean with an annual power washing, regularly prune landscaping trees or shrubbery that could scratch or scrape the exterior, and touch up any damaged areas immediately. Avoid clogged gutters and downspouts as the overflow of water can damage a home’s exterior.
Tall homes and hard to access areas add a lot of cost to exterior painting projects, so if you have a tall home, uneven terrain, or hard to access areas, be ready for your painting costs to exceed my estimates above.
Interior walls can be painted for a fairly low price since the total square footage of the surface determines the cost. It costs $1 to paint interior walls. 50 – $3. The cost of a square foot is $10.00. In spite of this, if you want the job done right, you may have to pay more for preparation work or repair work.
It helps to have a general idea of what to expect a project will cost you before you start getting bids.
But make sure you assess the full scope of the project (and get free quotes from painting professionals) before you take the leap.
Your options are unlimited when choosing your home’s new paint color. Whether you match the color to your home’s style or personality, the correct paint sheen will need to be based on the surface of your home. For example, Sherwin-Williams recommends a satin sheen for trims and a flat, matte finish for siding.
