As I said above, every exterior painting project is different and there are many factors that make up the final cost to paint a house.
I just completed a post on how to paint vinyl siding and am working on my how to paint aluminum siding (hopefully, I will publish it shortly). .
From beginning to end, Great Plains Painting met all of my expectations. I am very pleased with their work and professionalism.
I hired a painting company to paint my house and garage. Price was about $5,000.Sherwin Williams paint T-1000. When he was questioned about the paint peeling two days after he painted the garage he quit even with a contract not a very professional person. So,now I have to find someone else to paint my house. After 3 weeks of them trying to paint around the rain. The original time frame was 3-4 days.Yes 3 weeks and all that got done was a small two car garage that could have been done in two days.I know he did not prep correctly and properly I will end up having to redo the garage. I went to Sherwin Williams and got the colors. So beware even with a contract and good references. ● Tape off any areas that you don’t want to be painted, such as around windows, with painter's tape.
Some rooms simply have more detail and require more specialty painting including cabinetry, molding, multiple colors, faux finishes, wallpaper removal, etc.
If your home is around 1600 square feet, then it would cost you between $800 and $2500 to paint the interior of your home. The cost may vary depending on how much your painters charge, but that’s the average calculation.
The cost can increase up to $5 to $6 per sqft based on the overall square footage, the complexity of the job, and the quality of the primer and paint applied. Labor takes 75 to 80% of the overall costs of any painting projects.
Your painter can be a freelancer, a painting contractor, or an employee with a painting company. Whatever the case, you should always look for a licensed painter who has experience working on projects like yours and is willing to give you a written estimate. Ideally, that estimate should include labor and material costs, price for prep work, selection of primer and paint brands, inspection fees, and cleanup costs.
All of the staff at Great Plains Painting, from the schedulers to the workers, were great. The job was completed faster than expected and we were definitely pleased with the final result. We would use Great Plains Painting again and would recommend to our neighbors.
The interior painting cost for any home can vary depending upon your location. For example: I live in Saskatchewan Canada and the average painter makes about $20 per hour, whereas that same painter would make $35 per hour painting in Vancouver Canada. The other aspect of interior painting cost is paint supplies like paint, brushes and rollers. I have found the cost of paint supplies does not actually change that much per city.
*Prices vary depending on location, the quality of paint used, and the project's size and difficulty.

Once you have the interior square footage calculated, experts say you’ll want to divide by 350. 350 square feet is the average coverage of a gallon of paint (though some say 250-400 square feet). The average coverage for a gallon of primer is 200 square feet. Your square footage divided by 350 square feet gets you the number of gallons of paint you’ll need. Square footage divided by 200 gets you the number of gallons of primer you’ll need. You can save money by ensuring you don’t buy too much paint.
